Membership in ACUPA is subject to the following terms and conditions of membership.

Membership Type

Description of Eligibility and Voting Rights

Higher Education

Individual/Institutional:

  • a current employee of a higher education institution
  • membership includes voting rights
  • membership is transferable to another employee of the same higher education institution for the remainder of the membership year upon notification to ACUPA

Other Education

Individual/Institutional:

  • a current employee of an educational institution other than higher education (e.g., primary, secondary, technical institute)
  • membership includes voting rights
  • membership is transferable to another employee of the same education institution for the remainder of the membership year upon notification to ACUPA

Governmental

Individual/Agency:

  • a current employee of a federal, state, or county agency/entity
  • membership includes voting rights
  • membership is transferable to the another employee of the same agency for the remainder of the membership year upon notification to ACUPA

Retired from Education

Individual:

  • a former employee of an education institution (higher education or other education institution)
  • individual must not be receiving income from a for-profit entity which considers education policy functions as a marketing target niche (if so, consider affiliate membership)
  • no voting rights

Student

Individual:

  • a student attending a college or university
  • no voting rights
  • membership is not transferable

Other Policy Administrator

Individual/Business:

  • an individual not reflected in one of the categories listed above, who is engaged in policy administration
  • membership is contingent upon review and approval of at least two-thirds of ACUPA's Board of Directors
  • if approved, membership is transferable to another employee of the same firm for the remainder of the membership year upon notification to ACUPA
  • no voting rights

Vendor or Other Affiliate

Individual/Business:

  • an individual not reflected in one of the categories listed above, and not engaged in policy administration
  • membership is contingent upon review and approval of at least two-thirds of ACUPA's Board of Directors
  • if approved, membership is transferable to another individual at the same business entity for the remainder of the membership year upon notification to ACUPA
  • members may not solicit their products or services to ACUPA members via ACUPA’s online communication tools or using contact information obtained as a member of ACUPA
  • no voting rights
